Who operates this site
This website is run by Restore Trans Nzoia Primary School, a restoration project based in the United Kingdom. The website itself was built and is maintained by a separate technical operator based in the United States. Both are responsible for keeping this policy accurate and honoring the commitments described below.
Information we collect automatically
When you visit any page on this site (other than the admin dashboard), we automatically log your IP address, an approximate city/region/country derived from it, the page you visited, the site that referred you, and your browser's user agent string. We do not use fingerprinting techniques or persistent tracking cookies to identify you across visits or across other websites.
Information you provide to the AI chat assistant
If you use the chat assistant on this site, we store the question you typed, the assistant's response, your IP address, and whether you were signed in as an administrator. This is so we can review the assistant's answers for accuracy and catch misuse. The chat assistant only answers questions using this website's own content — it is not a general-purpose AI, and you should not share personal, financial, or sensitive information in it, since a person may review the conversation later. Your message is also sent to Google, which operates the underlying AI model (Gemini) that generates responses; Google processes that message according to its own privacy policy.
Cookies
The public pages of this site do not set marketing, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies. Signed-in administrators receive a session cookie (via our authentication provider, Clerk) so they can stay logged in to the admin dashboard; this cookie is not set for ordinary visitors.
Where your information is stored
Website media is stored with Cloudflare (R2), hosted in the European Union. Page-view analytics, AI chat logs, and site content are stored in a Postgres database hosted in the United Kingdom. Rate-limiting data for the chat assistant is stored with Upstash, also hosted in the European Union. The site itself is hosted on Vercel, and administrator accounts are managed by Clerk — both United States companies. Chat messages are additionally processed by Google as described above.
How long we keep information
Page-view analytics and AI chat logs are kept until a site administrator removes them. The admin dashboard lets an administrator delete records older than a chosen number of days at any time (365 days by default), but this is a manual action rather than an automatic schedule, so older records may persist until that action is taken.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to ask what information we hold about you, request a copy of it, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how it's used. To make a request, contact us using the email address at the bottom of this page.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children through the chat assistant or otherwise.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
